The fuel tank fitted.
I wondered why the old filler neck was wrapped in Duck Tape!
The new filler neck fitted and connected.
The tank guard from Rebel 4x4.
And the tree sliders. Despite being made by the same company, the tank guard needed cutting down to fit the tree sliders!
The seat box ends were both rotted badly.
The new sections are rivetted into place. |
The battery tray was pretty rusty and not really repairable.
After drilling out the rivets and a little light use of a hammer (!), the old tray came off the seat box.
Starting to prepare the seat box for paint.
The seat box painted and bolted in.
Seat belt bracket uses some of the seat box bolts.
This is a Devon 4x4 twin battery tray.
There are heat resistant pads on the underneath of the centre tunnel. They are in pretty poor condition, so I covered them in reflective aluminium tape.
The heat pads installed.
Self adhesive sponge applied to seal the floor panels.
After some filing of holes, the floors are bolted in. Note the different screws/bolts for different places.
This is a hydraulic cable crimper suitable for large cable terminals.
It produces hexagonal crimps.
This is the cable assembly to isolate the two batteries.
Installed with the two Optima batteries.
This is a Britpart mat that is supposed to be for all Defenders...... patently it isn't. They were insistant it fitted even after they were supplied this photo! Needless to say, the mats were returned.
The drivers seat offered in place.
This is the lower mount for the seat belt. There is a bracket underneath to transfer loads to the chassis.
The outer seat belt mount.
And the upper mount.
These switches are the winch isolator and twin battery isolator. The box is an electronics die cast item from RS Components. Strong and look neat.
The roof lights fitted. I always mount these well back to avoid light falling on the bonnet. |
This is the wiring harness made up for the roof lights. I used waterproof connectors which use a rubber seal around the outside.
I used a Mini interior light for the cab.
More bling! We made billet aluminium CB mounts. These are mounted through the roof with stainless steel button head screws.
I fabricated a steel centre console and sprayed it in crackle black. The switches are Carling type to match the ARB air locker ones.
Front number plate mount.....We machined some aluminium brackets to clamp on the top bar of the roll cage. The stainless steel plate is a proprietry item.
