Deconstruction
- Rear Body
The following pictures show the 90 as it was being stripped. |
First day. The wheels and tyres are the ones the 90 will end up with. The ones on the vehicle when bought had been sold.
Most of the floor screws wouldn't move, so out with the angle grinder.
Seat box finally giving in to our superior weaponry.....the angle grinder!
The sills also required the threat of the angle grinder and drill to get the fixings out. |
After much use of the now infamous angle grinder, the bolts finally gave in and the rear tub was liberated. It wasn't what what could be called prestine.... half of the aluminium fell out with the brackets. You can see all the white corrosion. |
Rear tub, seat box and floors removed. The chassis had been blessed with a replacement rear cross member in recent times. It had also had a fair amount of patching. |
The RH bulkhead bracket had taken extra load due to the corrosion in the aluminium and had fractured. Time the get the welder out. |
More corrosion in the rear of the chassis behind the shock mount.
Various brackets had to be removed from the chassis. Left to right.... rear shock mounts, gearbox mounts, bulkhead mounts. The latter has the brake regulator valve attached on the RH side.
